Bright Idea to Save Money on LED Bulbs in Phoenix AZ

Make sure all the bulbs in your home are Light-Emitting Diode or LED bulbs.  LED bulbs are by far the most efficient bulbs on the market.  The efficiency is measured by lumens or the amount of light the bulb emits divided by the energy used or watts written as Lumens/Watts or (lm/W).  A 60-watt incandescent bulb has an efficacy of 15 lm/W.   An equivalent CFL has an efficacy of about 73 lm/W, and current LED-based replacement bulbs on the market range from 70-120 lm/W with an average efficacy of 85 lm/W which is over five times more efficient than incandescent.

Another factor that makes LED bulbs more efficient is they don’t add nearly as much heat to your home as incandescent bulbs.  And bonus, LED bulbs tend to last a long time with some lasting 20 years perfect for those really high hard-to-replace bulbs.

When LED bulbs first came out they were not the most attractive bulbs, but now they come in all shapes, sizes, and even colors.  You can get bulbs that emit a soft glow to a bright white light.  The measurement for the color of light is on the Kelvin scale.

The lower the number the softer more yellow the light, these are good for bedrooms, living rooms, and dens.  The mid-range is good for working areas like your kitchen and bathrooms.  The high Kelvin bulbs are perfect for reading.

Pay attention to the Kelvin when you replace bulbs in a fixture with multiple bulbs to ensure they all appear uniform in the light they emit.  And maybe get a few colored bulbs to change with the seasons and holidays just for fun!
